2026 AKTV Koreatown Excursion

We are pleased to announce the 2026 AKTV Korea Town Excursion.

Please note that all participating students are required to register for a ticket.

About the Excursion

The Korea Town excursion aims to give high school students an opportunity to practise Korean and learn about Korean culture outside the classroom. Students will explore restaurants, cafés, shops, K-pop stores and cultural landmarks, connecting their Korean language knowledge to real-life situations. They will also learn about traditional Korean culture, read Korean signs and menus, and explore the role of the Korean community and cultural events in Melbourne. Through travelling together and following the schedule and rules, students will also develop responsibility, teamwork and time-management skills.

What Students Will Gain

The excursion will help students connect Korean learned in the classroom to real-life situations by practising useful expressions such as ordering food, reading menus, checking prices and greeting others. Students will develop an understanding of traditional and contemporary Korean culture, explore the cultural and social role of Melbourne’s Korea Town and Korean community, and compare Korean and Australian cultures. Through small-group activities, students will also develop communication, teamwork, responsibility and independence while increasing their interest and motivation to learn Korean language and culture.
